Today I thought I should really get my phone syncing with my laptop again. When poking around the menus on the phone the other day I realized that you could sync it via bluetooth. Neat! So I went through the setup part on the treo, and the bluetooth icon on my desktop started flashing, so I clicked on it and gave the passphrase I had just created on my treo and bam, they were connected.
Next was adding the pilot-link panel icon.

That walked me through setting up a new pilot to sync against. Bluetooth was one of the connection items.

Next was asking whether I’d synced with this device before (I had), and finally hitting hot-sync to get the information from the device. That’s it! The only thing left was to configure the conduits for things like contacts and calendar settings. Easy as pie. I’m really happy with how things are going on the desktop for things like this. The only reason I’m posting a detailed blog about it was because I thought like times ago I had to do a bunch of pre-configuration before things would Just Work and so I googled around before actually trying to use the tool set. Silly me, I should have just trusted the tools.

Eamon says Trust the Tools!
